Tottenham Hotspur is expanding its technology strategy across fan engagement, stadium operations, and corporate innovation, with recent initiatives involving Salesforce, HPE, and The Players Fund showing how the club is building AI and data capabilities across multiple parts of the business.

The latest initiative is Hotspur Labs, a new program created with The Players Fund to work with high-growth companies earlier in their development. The program will focus primarily on Series A to Series C businesses and give participating companies access to Tottenham’s platform, reach, operating environment, and commercial scale.

The structure is designed to go beyond a traditional sponsorship model. Tottenham Chief Revenue Officer Ryan Norys said the club wants to build relationships with companies before they reach the point where they would typically be able to afford a Premier League sponsorship, while creating an opportunity for Tottenham to participate in the value those businesses generate as they grow.

“The idea behind it is simple: by the time many high-growth companies can afford a traditional Premier League sponsorship, a significant part of their growth journey has already happened. We want to build relationships earlier.” – Ryan Norys, Chief Revenue Officer, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

Hotspur Labs will not be limited to sports technology. Tottenham operates across commerce, retail, technology, real estate, hospitality, and live entertainment, giving participating companies multiple environments in which to test, prove, and scale their products.

“Hotspur Labs will work with companies at Series A to C, giving them access to the platform, reach and operating scale of Tottenham Hotspur to help accelerate their growth, while creating an opportunity for the Club to participate in the value we help build.” – Ryan Norys, Chief Revenue Officer, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

Norys said the program is also part of the club’s effort to diversify revenue and create long-term commercial value beyond traditional sponsorship. Tottenham launched Hotspur Labs at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium alongside founders, venture capital firms, and angel investors, with the club positioning the initiative as complementary to the investment community rather than a replacement for traditional venture capital.

“And to the investment community: we’re not looking to replace you. We want to work with you. Please bring us your best companies.” – Ryan Norys, Chief Revenue Officer, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

The club’s technology infrastructure is also undergoing a major expansion through HPE, Tottenham’s Official Hybrid Cloud and IT Enterprise Networking Partner.

Announced in September, the project will modernize the technology environment supporting Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, including ticketless entry, cashless payments, mobile applications, digital wayfinding, security, IPTV, point-of-sale systems, crowd analytics, and future AI-driven fan services.

At the center of the deployment is HPE GreenLake, which will provide Tottenham with a unified hybrid cloud operating model and real-time visibility across its IT environment. HPE ProLiant Compute Gen12 servers and HPE Alletra Storage MP will consolidate infrastructure currently distributed across eight locations into two core environments.

Tottenham is also deploying HPE Morpheus Software and HPE OpsRamp Software to automate infrastructure management, identify potential issues proactively, and reduce the amount of manual intervention required from the club’s technology team.

Networking will be managed through HPE Aruba Central, using AI-driven automation to analyze user, application, and network experience data and respond to performance issues. Tottenham is also set to become one of the first stadiums to deploy outdoor Wi-Fi 7, supporting high-density connectivity across events at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“Our goal isn't simply to refresh our infrastructure. It's to build a simpler, more resilient technology environment that gives us the flexibility to innovate for years to come, streamline operations and support the Club's long-term growth. By bringing together AI, hybrid cloud, networking, services, and financial solutions through a single strategic partner, HPE is helping us simplify operations so our teams can focus on supporting every part of the Stadium, from match days to third-party events and day-to-day operations, rather than managing technology. Ultimately, the best technology is invisible to our fans.” – Rob Pickering, Chief Technology Officer, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club
“Sport and entertainment venues are becoming increasingly connected and data-driven, and this partnership reflects a shared commitment to building the digital foundation required to support that evolution. Together, we're helping Spurs build an AI-driven technology backbone that powers every aspect of the stadium, from critical operations behind the scenes to the digital experiences supporters enjoy on match days and beyond.” – Matt Harris, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, UK, Ireland, Middle East & Africa, HPE

On the fan-facing side, Tottenham Hotspur is using Salesforce Agentforce to power Ask Spurs, an AI-driven service agent built on a unified fan data environment.

Tottenham consolidated data covering more than 4.6 million fans across 30 previously separate systems using Salesforce Data 360, creating a real-time fan profile that can be used by both AI agents and human service staff.

Ask Spurs has handled 38,623 fan sessions since launch, with more than 31,000 completed without human escalation. Salesforce reports a 90.8% task-resolution rate.

Before the deployment, service representatives often needed to access three separate systems to resolve a single ticketing or membership inquiry, with interactions taking four to five minutes. When an inquiry now requires human assistance, the unified fan profile can reduce resolution time to an average of 10 seconds or less.

Salesforce says Ask Spurs saved approximately 80,000 minutes of service time during its first month and is on track to handle more than 200,000 fan interactions annually.

“Organised, structured, governed and available data is the cornerstone of successful agentic AI in the enterprise. It’s why at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club we partnered with Salesforce and put Agentforce at the heart of Ask Spurs our fan engagement agent. Without a system of record that already holds the fan, the entitlement, the permission and the history, an agent has nothing to reason over and no safe way to act - Agentic AI that can only ask and answer (versus ask and act) is only marginally better than no agentic AI at all. Bringing together data to support these use cases at scale is very difficult in an organisation of any size.” – Rob Pickering, Chief Technology Officer, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

Taken together, the three initiatives cover distinct parts of Tottenham’s technology strategy. Salesforce supports the club’s fan data and service environment. HPE is providing the infrastructure, networking, and automation layer beneath stadium and enterprise operations. Hotspur Labs creates a mechanism for Tottenham to identify and work with emerging companies that could contribute new capabilities across the business.

The club has also brought in Tata Consultancy Services as its Digital Transformation Partner, supporting areas including Salesforce, analytics, cybersecurity, and digital operations as Tottenham continues consolidating its technology environment.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium operates as more than a football venue, hosting Premier League matches, NFL games, concerts, boxing, hospitality, and other major events. Hotspur Labs extends that operating footprint into a test-and-scale environment for emerging companies, while the Salesforce and HPE programs provide the data and infrastructure layers supporting the club’s own AI deployment.
