Duquesne Names Gecko Robotics AI Partner and Basketball Jersey Sponsor
Gecko Robotics becomes Duquesne Athletics’ official AI and robotics partner, with men’s basketball jersey, fieldhouse and athletics-platform branding.
The Pittsburgh robotics company will appear on men’s basketball uniforms and receive branding across Duquesne Athletics.
Duquesne University named Gecko Robotics its Official AI & Robotics Partner on Oct. 5, adding the Pittsburgh company’s logo to men’s basketball jerseys for the 2026-27 season.
The agreement also includes branding inside UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse and across athletics platforms, alongside collaborations intended to deepen ties between the company and the university. Financial terms and the contract’s duration were not disclosed.
“This partnership represents two Pittsburgh institutions investing in the future.” — Jake Loosararian, CEO and Co-founder, Gecko Robotics
Duquesne said the partnership is intended to support student-athletes and create professional development opportunities. The announcement did not specify internships, training programs or an AI or robotics deployment within athletics.
Gecko’s business centers on industrial infrastructure. Its robots and sensors collect physical inspection data, while its Cantilever software combines that information to support asset management. The company serves industries including defense, energy and manufacturing.
The jersey agreement follows the NCAA Division I Cabinet’s approval of commercial patches, effective Aug. 1. The policy allows up to two additional commercial logos on uniforms and apparel during preseason and regular-season competition, with each limited to four square inches. The approval covers non-NCAA championship competition.
Duquesne described Gecko as one of the early companies to appear on a Division I basketball jersey under the new rules.
