Teamworks Acquires PFF's Enterprise Business, Cementing Position as the Leading AI Platform in American Football
Deal adds PFF’s B2B data and analytics platform to Teamworks’ growing AI and intelligence stack across football operations.
Teamworks has acquired Pro Football Focus’ enterprise business, adding PFF’s B2B game event data and analytics platform to its broader operating system for sports. According to the company, the acquisition includes the data and analytics products used by NFL teams and college football programs, while PFF’s consumer business is not part of the transaction and will remain independent.
In announcing the deal, Teamworks said the addition of PFF’s enterprise assets strengthens its position in American football by combining football data, analytics, and operations in a more unified platform. The company said PFF’s enterprise platform is used by every NFL team and more than 240 Division I college programs. Teamworks also said it now serves more than 7,000 sports organizations globally.
The deal continues Teamworks’ recent expansion around data, analytics, and AI. In the release, the company pointed to earlier acquisitions including Zelus Analytics, Telemetry Sports, and Sportlogiq, saying PFF’s enterprise business adds another layer of proprietary data to that foundation. Teamworks said that combination is intended to support more sport-specific AI capabilities inside a secure and governed platform.
Teamworks also said the football-specific implications of the transaction could extend beyond that sport. The company cited its current footprint across major leagues and college athletics, including 100% of the NFL, NHL and Premier League, 90% of MLB, 87% of the NBA, 83% of MLS, 99% of Division I athletic departments, and more than 65 Olympic federations.
For the football market, the transaction is centered on consolidation of workflow, intelligence, and decision-support tools into a single platform. Teamworks framed the acquisition as part of a broader effort to connect video, secure data sources, advanced analytics, and AI into one system used across coaching, scouting, personnel, and operations.
PFF’s consumer-facing products, including its fan, fantasy, draft, betting, and player insight offerings, will continue to operate separately under PFF. Teamworks said Cris Collinsworth and PFF’s minority investors will remain Teamworks shareholders following the deal. LionTree Advisors LLC served as financial advisor to PFF on the transaction.
